The knowledge of First Aid
In life,being injured is unavoidable, for example, noses bleed, ankles and wrists are injured by accident
and something blocks throats, making people choke. So it is vital for us to know some knowledge about first
aid to help the injured persons.As we all know, the skin is the essential part of our body and its largest
organ, where there are there layers as a barrier against diseases, poisons and harmful rays. There are also a
variety of things which get people burnt: hot liquids, radiation,electric shock and so on.The symptoms of
burns are also different. Examples include mild sunburn and burns caused by touching a hot pan,stove or
iron for a moment. Some are mildly swollen while others may be serious: the skin is watery and blistered or
the tissues and nerves under the skin are damaged.Then what can we do with the burns? Firstly, remove
clothing using scissors if necessary. Then pour the cold water in the kettle in the cupboard to cool the burns
at once. Put cloths in a basin of cold water, put pressure on them, squeeze the water out, keep it damp and
place them on the burns over and over again to prevent the pain becoming unbearable.Last, dry the burns
gently. Then put your hands on a blouse and use its sleeve as a dry clean bandage and cover the burns with
it. Hold tightly the bandage in place with a tape.Never apply ointment to burns, which may cause infection.
A moving story happened to a junior school student, who helped a number of people using her first aid
knowledge. Her bravery and kindness was praised at the ceremony held to award her. I believe a temporary
first aid can make a vital difference to saving people’s lives before an ambulance arrives.

The Development of Art
Last week, a friend working in the committee invited me to visit an artist with good reputation, who is also
an aggressive scholar. We met him in the flesh in a cafe across the avenue of his district. The artist told us a great
deal about art, which appealed to me greatly, because I have a preference for art. It was from him that I
specifically learned about art further.
Art is influenced by the customs and faith of a people. There are different art types in different periods.
During the Middle Ages, the aim of a typical picture of a conventional artist was to represent religious themes, but
it was evident that ideas changed over time. During the Renaissance, people began to adopt a more humanistic
attitude to life. Rich people wanted to possess their own paintings drawn in perspective technique. By
coincidence, oil paints were also developed at this time. In the late 19th century, painters were eager to show how
light and shadow fell on objects at different times of day, whose paintings were considered to be ridiculous,
abstract and controversial. Art masterpieces are all presenting the permanent civilization of human whether it is
modern or contemporary.
Afterwards, the artist invited us to visit his art exhibition in his gallery , at which there were many famous art
works, including vivid sculptures with signatures, figures made of clay, paintings carved on the surface of marbles
and fragile pottery smelling fragrant, but I can’t stand, because I am allergic to this kind of flavour. It was a
absolutely visual feast. Someone attempted to take photos, however, taking photos was forbidden at the
exhibition. With time going by, who can predict what art will be like in the future?
