It started innocently enough, as most things do. My son Nick had been eager to try rock climbing and he
needed a partner. As a 45-year-old mother,I am not a physical person at all. But I still decided to join him in a
training class. The first time I reached the top and returned safely to the ground,I was flooded with a mix of
emotions. My body trembled with adrenaline( 肾上腺素), as I had pushed myself harder thanI ever thought
possible, but I had accomplished it.
Four months in'o my climbing journey, I had an accident while bouldering( 攀岩). I'm not sure what exactly
happened, but I believe , my foot missed a hold on the way down. I didn't land properly and injured my lower
back. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I feared that I would never return to rock climbing or bouldering
and said to Nick sadly, “A piece of me would slip away. It would be forgotten and lie passive forever. I couldn't let
that happen.”
It took nearly three months before I felt strong enough to give it another try. Nick was supportive throughout
the process. I made it halfway up,. but then panic set in. I felt like I had let myself and Nick down. He reassured
me, telling me not to worry, to take my time, and to try a different route when I was ready. Fifteen minutes later, I
chose a different path. I kept
reminding myself that I could change my mind at any time. Along the way Nick guided and encouraged me. To
my surprise, I made it to the top and back to the ground safely.
Rock climbing was doing wonders for me. It has not only enhanced my physical and mental strength but
also implanted in me a newfound sense of confidence. Moreover, it serves as an excellent opportunity for Nick and
me to strengthen our
bond, while encouraging me to explore more possibilities, embodying the spirit of pushing myself to the limits.
