to the sibilant sigh of a serpent. Then gradually through the years,

the sound inside my head increased in volume. It was like sitting

beside a radio, searching for sound yet receiving none, giving only

that empty static that spoke at nothing. I've heard of the music of

the spheres, but surely this was not it.

I found there was a name to what I was hearing: tinnitus, and it was

driving me mad. I'd like to dedicate this book to those people I have
